Shipping and handling price was listed and agreed on prior to purchase. This was a planter of good size with an insert of similar size. Both were very fragile items that I packaged securely and were heavy. Postage and packing materials I have no control over, other than to use the most inexpensive shipper who is reliable. I packaged with extra packaging to make sure this beautiful planter did not arrive broken. I always provide shipping info up front. I wish shipping was cheaper also.
