Hasbro’s ever-popular military-inspired G.I. Joe has been available in a number of different versions over the years. Hasbro’s G.I. Joe Secret Mission to Spy Island action figure is an all-time favorite and features a number of special accessories along with an extra cool story line. When very important documents are stolen from the Pentagon, it’s up to the always courageous G.I. Joe to defeat the enemy and recover the papers. This detailed figure has all the items and gear he needs to take on the task too. He comes ready to fight against the dreaded Cobra and includes a life raft with an oar, binoculars, signal light, flare gun, and detonator. He is well prepared for all of the spy action that he is sure to encounter as well. Three sticks of TNT, a Morse code radio set, and a canteen complete with its own cover are all also part of this adventurous G.I. Joe’s gear. He is not short on weapons either. Inside the vintage package, you will also find a .45 caliber pistol with a handy shoulder holster as well as a .45 caliber machine gun. G.I. Joe is always prepared for the unexpected on top secret missions. He never knows what he might encounter on his search for the missing documents. He comes appropriately dressed in a shirt, pants, and rugged boots. He also wears a belt with an ammo pouch and a knit cap. In this apparel, he is ready for whatever the Island can throw at him. A wire roll, 35th-anniversary dog tag, and alligator are parts of this set too. He is always on the team of the good guys and ready to handle anything Cobra can dish out. The recommended age range is five years and up for this toy. The original version of this particular G.I. Joe came out after Hasbro had already stopped making its action figures part of the military. In the past, the Hasbro toys had always been soldiers or sailors. But this new turn of events led to the figures being characterized as adventurers rather than strictly as military men. Interestingly, this G.I. Joe is also one of the last to feature plastic, painted-on hair. More realistic-looking hair and beards were introduced by Hasbro after this Secret Mission to Spy Island figure. This figure is part of Hasbro’s Timeless Collection and is 12 inches in height. For collectors of G.I. Joes or other military-related toys, this vintage item is certainly a must have. No collection could truly be complete without it. With its unique accessories and interesting story, the figure is also sure to inspire hours of creative play for little ones as well. This G.I.
