Dragonfire is a two-screen adventure putting players in the role of a valiant prince on a mission to recover the King's treasures. The first screen involves running across a castle bridge while ducking under and jumping over fireballs. You can even jump while kneeling. The second screen entails scrambling to grab treasures while avoiding fireballs shot by a dragon scampering along the bottom of the playfield. The action is fast and challenging, but limited since you can't slay the dragon. Each screen is brief, but beautifully rendered. The character animation is slick, the treasures are ornately designed, and the dragon looks amazing. He struts his stuff with flair and aplomb and gets visibly angrier as the game progresses. The sound effects, on the other hand, are merely adequate.
