With its first-person world of mind-bending puzzles visualized through what many considered to be some of the finest graphics of its time, America fell in love with Myst. Its success would popularize the adventure puzzle genre of gaming, inspiring similar games such as Timelapse and Drowned God. In order to commemorate the fifth anniversary of this revolutionary title, Ages of Myst was released in October 1998, including Myst and its similar 1997 sequel, Riven.
In addition to the discs for both games--one for Myst and five for the longer, graphically advanced Riven--the package includes other goodies meant to please die-hard fans. As its name would suggest, the CD-ROM documentary entitled The Making of Riven takes fans behind the scenes of the production of Myst's sequel. It features interviews with the game's creators and details what occurred between the game's conception and its completion. And since the writing of books is "a cherished and sacred art" in the worlds of Myst and Riven, Ages of Myst also includes a 96-page, hard-bound personal journal, perfect for documenting your real adventures in life--or even those that you will soon encounter on your computer screen.
