The penguin-esque "Prinny" beings from Nippon Ichi Software's Disgaea series of strategy games become the unlikely protagonists of an action platformer in Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero?. It seems that someone has stolen Demon Lord Etna's Ultra Dessert, forcing her to dispatch an army of Prinnie slaves in an attempt to track down the tasty treat. Prinnies, as it turns out, are not classic hero material. Though they possess some decent combat moves, their scrawny legs make them slow, they aren't terribly strong or smart, and they have a habit of exploding when they get touched. Luckily, players have exactly 1,000 Prinnies at their disposal, so gamers can slash, spin, and hip pound demons without fear of an early death. The six stages can be played in any order, but one hour of time passes between each level, and the demons get stronger as day turns into night, so the game gets more difficult no matter how players approach it.
