Hong Kong filmmaker Godfrey Ho cultivated his ambition with an entry into the traditional melding of historical drama and martial arts action titled GRAND MASTER OF SHAOLIN KUNG FU. Based on the true life story of Bodhidharma, or just Dharma, the man who established the Shaolin sect of Buddhism, the film begins with the creation of the first Shaolin temple. Dharma insisted on total physical and mental discipline from his monks, and to achieve this end he invented kung-fu. GRAND MASTER OF SHAOLIN KUNG FU tells the story of Dharma's development of the most famous of all martial arts, and his struggles both with his own men and with outside threats to his peaceful way of life.
