AR stands for Auto-Reflex, which refers to a series of 35-millimeter SLR cameras that Konica started building in 1965. It boasts a 40-millimeter focal length a 56-degree angle of view. That allows these Hexanon lenses to work as both long standard and short telephoto lenses. Coupled with the right camera, this lightweight and simply constructed lens will have a great addition to your kit.Konica originally designed this gear for a camera requiring a small aperture of 22. It is a fully automated AE aperture. The 40-millimeeter size of this Konica is a perfect compromise between a standard 50-millimeter and a wide-angle lens.The Konica Minolta Hexanon 40-millimeter lens is a pancake lens, which is ideal for a mirrorless camera. Pancake lenses are thin, flat camera lenses that are also known as short barrel lenses because they're shorter than they are wide. They are, therefore, also lighter in weight. Their squat design also makes for a compact camera and film accessory that can fit easily in a jacket pocket. That makes it particularly great for travel photography. While slightly larger than most pancakes, this one is unique in being able to offer an f-stop of f/1.8.Built with six elements in five groups, including one aspherical element, you can have all the flexibility you need. It features a manual focus mechanism with a wide attached focus ring. The unit itself is made of a solid, sturdy combination of metal and plastic, while the focus ring is rubberized. The aperture ring on this Konica Hexanon 40-millimeter pancake lens has six blades that are slightly curved. Just beyond the f/22 stop, this ring automatically locks. The maximum reproduction ratio it provides is 1:7. Its length at infinity is 1 1/6 inch. Its weight is just shy of 5 ounces. It includes a 55 mm round screw-in hood. These Konica Hexanon lenses have a metal body and include a 55-millimeter metal filter.Perfect for nature photography, this lens features a minimum focusing distance of just 0.45 and a magnification ratio of 1:7. This gives you the ability to orchestrate the shots you want with sensationally clear, sharp, and stunning images. It boasts nearly no distortion on your images either, offering crystalline center, corner, and partway sharpness. The sharpness continues to increase at infinity and close distances alike with the higher the f-stop. This makes these units great whether shooting long-distance landscape or close-up subjects. Contrast, bokeh, and color rendition are also impressive with this unit.With the right mount adapter, you can use the Konica Minolta Hexanon 40-millimeter on full frame or 35-millimeter SLR or DSLR cameras. These include the Sony Nex line, the Pentax K, and the Canon FD. They also include cameras from popular manufacturers like Nikon and Olympus. The flange distance of the included mount is uniquely short, adding to the compactness of this unit.
