TrickStyle is futuristic racing title where players compete using floating equipment resembling snowboards. Players choose from nine international characters, each rated in various attributes, as they set out to win a tournament and become mayor of a city. Four styles of boards are available to use (standard, stunt, turbo, and combat) with varying degrees of acceleration, maneuverability, strength, and lift.
The TrickStyle Pro-Tour consists of 15 races taking place within London, Manhattan, and Tokyo. Historical landmarks such as Big Ben, Tower Bridge, and the Statue of Liberty are mixed with swirling lights and modern buildings to make each city familiar and yet completely different at the same time.
TrickStyle also features a Training mode inside the Velodrome, a large arena offering four special competitions (Globe Collection, Globe Switching, Hoop Races, and Stunt Mission) for players to refine their technique on over 400 stunts. Those owning a VMU will be able to save tournament progress, statistics, and download mini-games to alter certain aspects of play.
By participating in the Board Training mini-game, for example, players can change the trail left by their characters within the main game, while "TrickStyle Junior" lets players take the action away from the Dreamcast and on the road for a special competition. Other features include two-player racing on a split screen, cheat code support, and adjustable control, visual, and sound settings.
