Ten years later, the scientist who survived the crash returns to the Amazon canopy where he recalls the tragic accident that claimed his friend's life. <BR>LA SOUFRIERE tells the remarkable story of a handful of Guadeloupeans who resisted evacuation when a large volcano threatened to destroy their island. Herzog and his camera crew travel to the site of the near-catastrophe (amazingly, La Soufriere never did erupt) to interview those islanders who chose to stay behind and face certain death. <BR> Also includes THE FLYING DOCTORS OF EAST AFRICA, a straight-forward documentary short which follows a group of medics who tend to the more primitive parts of East Africa.
