This collection of three TPC Courses (Tournament Player's Course) by EA Sports is a companion volume to the collection of three add-on Tournament Courses for the PGA Tour Golf simulation. This add-on CD can be used with the Tiger Woods 99 PGA Tour Golf simulation as well as some earlier versions. All three courses are optimized for use with 3Dfx acceleration.
With this collection, the player is taken to three southern and/or western states including Texas, Arizona and Tennessee. PGA Tour Golf: The TPC Courses provides players with the opportunity to experience tournament-style courses as all have been stops on the PGA Tour at some point.
At the TPC at Southwind, located in Memphis, Tennessee, players should bring along extra golf balls as water comes into play on eleven of the eighteen holes. Making it to the greens on this course that opened in 1988 is only half the battle, however, as the greens are small and challenging. Southwind, a par 71, has a rating near 75 and plays from the tournament tees at about 7,030 yards.
In Texas, the TPC at Las Colinas is buffeted by troublesome winds that gust and swirl fairly regularly. The course is considered a "thinking man's" venue as many of the holes offer more than one "right" way to play the hole, thus putting a premium on club and shot selection. To be successful at Las Colinas, you'll have to be on top of your short game. This par 70, moderately long course (a bit less than 6,800 yards) is a popular stop on the PGA Tour and posts a USGA rating of about 69.5.
As you move westward on your golfing trip through this collection, your last stop is in the desert air at the TPC of Scottsdale in Arizona. A wide-open, grip it and rip it style course, Scottsdale has been home to the PGA's Phoenix Open for many years. Situated at the foot of the McDowell Mountains in the Sonora Desert, TPC of Scottsdale allows for gambling style play over its nearly 7,000 yard length and offers one of the premier places for fans to watch the professionals. Par is 71.
The CD also comes with a program update to PGA Tour Golf.
