The wire itself is ok, but it is not wound well. Pulling wire off the spool ends up with with crossovers and tangled wire that you have to cut.

Works great with ssd1306 library
Tried this with a cheap nano and powered directly to the nano's 5V power rail, getting power for the whole setup from the USB cable from the computer. I used the ssd1306 library from the Arduino IDE and it works great. Most of the demos I tried worked fine.

Check polarity of capacitors and diodes
Worked fine for me on the first try. Remember that the diodes and electrolytic capacitors can only be placed in a specific orientation.
