I wouldn't normally have bought this type of CD, but after hearing the title track on the radio I thought I would take the plunge and I wasn't dissappointed. The first Track "Early One Morning/Young Collins" starts as a traditional folk ballad and then crescendos into something entirely different. Other tracks which stand out include "Lord Bateman" and "Longing For Lucy". However "The Week Before Easter" (an acapella triumph) is breath takingly beautiful and is worth the price of the CD all by itself. Two days before buying this CD I had never heard of Jim Moray and two days after I bought it I went out and got his second album. There has been a lot of attention to detail in its production, from the musical arrangement to the intricate photographic collage inside the album sleeve. Jim's vulnerable and honest singing style compliments rather than dominates the music. From what I have read there has been some disagreement amongst traditional folk fans about the way Jim puts a modern twist on an established musical genre. For me this is an example of an instance where change is definitely a good thing.

Charlton Guides are the default reference for Doulton/Beswick collectors
As an avid collector od both Doulton and Beswick, these Charlton guides really the default reference materials for me. That being said this is not the more recent version, and although very informative and representing good value for money due to the edition number, there are items which are missing due to the date of its issue. For a casual collector who doesn't want to pay a premium for the latest version it would be ideal.
