Finally getting all those memories digitized!!!!
My dad and granddad were 8 mm and Super 8 fanatics. I didn't feel right throwing the movies away and having them professionally converted was too expensive. I've worked my way through almost all of the 8 mm with very little trouble (and that was from 60 year old splices) and soon plan to do the same with the Super 8. The machine paid for itself after about 10 little 2 minute movies and when I'm done I'll either do my friend's old movies or resell it. But it gets the job done. The machine does need babysitting but since I work from home I just have it going while I work and I've managed to speed down memory lane. Note: This machine works by filming a frame at a time. It's NOT fast. A two minute film can take about 20 minutes or so. I wasn't aware of that when I bought it but once you know you have to plan time to do it (and be doing something else at the same time) it's not such a big deal. Oh, and 8 mm film is recyclable. So make sure you put it in the right bin. The photo is of my recycling box as it fills up with film.

The Dresden Files is my favorite wizard, magic series! I'm re-reading them all!
I am currently rereading the entire Dresden Files from beginning to end and realized I didn't own the first book. (A friend hooked me on it 20 years ago by lending me her audio copy). So I'm completing my collection and loving this series even more the second time around. I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys a main character who struggles with doing the right thing and often does it with plenty of snark and humor. It helps if you love fantasy and magic too.

So far, it's a great read.
I'm still reading but 3/4ths through. Really looking forward to seeing how it ends.
