Redrum offers two traditional hidden object gameplay that deals with dark and macabre subject matter. Redrum: Dead Diary centers on Rose, a young woman whose ability to hear voices has led to her being locked in an asylum under watch of the maleficent Dr. Sigmund Fraud. Rose is actually quite well, but the evil doctor continues to experiment on her because it allows him to leech money from her father. Meanwhile, Rose's detective uncle has grown suspicious of the asylum, but is too caught up trying to solve a series of grisly murders to free the girl. So Rose puts the voices in her head to work for her, asking them to help solve the murders so her uncle can save her. Each of the game's seven chapters begins with a murder, with players acting as Rose's uncle while he scours the crime scene looking for clues and hidden items. When the action switches back to Rose, it alternates between mini-games in which she tries to stifle the doctor's experiments, and hidden object dream sequences where Rose is allowed to visit the crime scene. Redrum includes a "Timed" mode for more intense gameplay, and a "Relaxed" mode for those looking for stress-free action, but both modes include graphic and disturbing imagery that is best suited for adults.
In Redrum: Time and Lies Dr. Fraud has been released from the asylum and once again it's up to you to help release his ten victims souls from their nightmares.
Redrum includes two bonus titles: The Flying Dutchman, and Curse of the Witch Crow.
