The Army Men take to the skies in their second title on GameCube, which features helicopter combat reminiscent of EA's Desert Strike series. The Elite Missions continues the story of Captain Blade and the Alpha Wolf Squadron as players once again attempt to eliminate the persistent Tan Army. A total of five helicopters can be flown, each differing in payload and handling ability. Players will embark on 20 missions, 11 of which take place in the "real" world where the toy soldiers are less than three inches in height. Players will conduct operations in a flowerbed, backyard, Japanese garden, on Halloween night, and across various other terrain.
Weapons include bottle rockets, Roman candles, and cherry bombs as players take out both ground and air forces and stockpile the remaining plastic to build bonus vehicles, including a UFO, zeppelin, and biplane. The environments also feature variable conditions such as wind, which is designed to influence the difficulty in towing an object using the helicopter's winch. In addition to a single-player campaign, Army Men recruits can participate in one of five multiplayer modes in six specially designed arenas. Both cooperative and head-to-head battles are supported as well. Cinematic cut-scenes will detail the war effort in between each mission.
