Shadow of Destiny for PSP is a remake of one of the first graphic adventure games for PlayStation 2, which was originally released in 2001. Players take the role of an unfortunate young man called Eike Kusch, who must travel through time on a supernatural quest to prevent his own murder. The game begins as Eike is assaulted, on a dark, empty street in the middle of the night. He awakens to find himself in a strange room, with a mysterious benefactor who offers to help, for a price. Eike is given a device that allows him to travel backwards through time, in order to investigate and prevent his death. The events leading up to the crime are complicated, and lead him farther back through time than he may have expected. The game includes adventures through several different periods in the 20th century, and through medieval times, as well as the moments just before his death. As he travels to different areas, altering events to prevent his premature demise, Eike must also seek out energy units to keep his time-travel device powered. In addition to following the story and putting together clues, players will need to travel back and forth through time, manipulating events and consequences, to solve some of the game's more sophisticated puzzles. Shadow of Destiny culminates in one of five endings, depending on the choices the player makes throughout the adventure.
