Veronica Lake stars in this western from 1951, which is set amid the turmoil of the Mexican Revolution. Lake plays Mary Stevens, who has travelled to Mexico with her daughter following the death of her father and ruination of her Southern plantation in the U.S. But once there Stevens finds herself in further danger, as she is kidnapped and held hostage by a key figure in the Mexican Revolution who senses that her capture may bring him the riches he needs to help fund his efforts in overthrowing the Emperor of the country. Fascinatingly, STRONGHOLD was filmed concurrently with a Mexican film named FURIA ROJO. Both films shared the same plot, but a different cast rendered each film, with Mexican starlet Sarita Montiel taking Lake's role in FURIA ROJO.
