Product Information

Surveying the artistic and cultural scene in the era of Trump If farce follows tragedy, what follows farce? Where does the double predicament of a post-truth and post-shame politics leave artists and critics on the Left? How to demystify a hegemonic order that dismisses its own contradictions? How to belittle a political elite that cannot be embarrassed, or to mock party leaders who thrive on the absurd? How to out-dada President Ubu? And, in any event, why add outrage to a media economy that thrives on the same? What Comes After Farce? comments on shifts in art, criticism, and fiction in the face of the current regime of war, surveillance, extreme inequality, and media disruption. A first section focuses on the cultural politics of emergency since 9/11, including the use and abuse of trauma, paranoia, and kitsch. A second group reviews the neoliberal makeover of art institutions during the same period. Finally, a third section surveys transformations in media as reflected in recent art, film, and fiction. Among the phenomena explored here are machine vision (images produced by machines for other machines without a human interface), operational images (images that do not represent the world so much as intervene in it), and the algorithmic scripting of information so pervasive in our everyday lives.

I changed my mind, and cancelled this item very soon after the order was placed. The Seller was able to respond to this request promptly and my money was reimbursed without fuss. I have purchased from Awesome a number of times, and (as reflected in the customer ratings) find customer service very good, books ordered to date are accurate to description - i.e. very good to nearly new condition. With their competitive prices I will continue to buy from this seller in the future.

Firstly, I believe in HONEST reviews. Unfortunately the book had loads of underlining in it, but I was refunded straight away, I have bought from this company plenty of times, buying 100's of books and I've never had any problems before, mistakes happen and it was rectified immediately, therefore I will still continue to buy from them and also HIGHLY recommend this company, communication was quick and professional and it was well packaged with fast delivery. Thank you.

This seller gave excellent communication & a full refund when the book I ordered was found to be damaged at the warehouse. They sent a very apologetic email explaining the issue & refunded me straight away. I have used this seller before & they have always been reliable & prompt with delivery. The items have also been in even better condition than described for an amazingly reasonable price. This was not their fault, so I would definitely buy from this seller again & recommend them to others.
