Synopsis
The rich tradition of French painting was an important influence on Russian art from the mid-nineteenth century to the 1920s, a period that saw the rise of many of the most important movements in modern art. A magnificent visual record of an unprecedented event, this book, the catalogue of an ambitious exhibition of master paintings from the four greatest museums of Russia, examines the interaction of these two great cultures. Drawing on the collections of the State Russian Museum and the Pushkin Museum in Moscow and the Tretyakov Gallery and the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, the book presents outstanding examples of Salon painting, Impressionism, Fauvism, and Cubism in France, and related movements in Russia, among them The Wanderers, Constructivism, and Suprematism. Paintings by Renoir, Cezanne, Van Gogh, Gauguin, and Matisse are reproduced, along with works by Kandinsky, Tatlin, and Malevich. Key episodes in the story of this fascinating exchange include the vital role played by the great Russian collectors Ivan Morosov and Sergei Shchukin, whose preeminent collections of French art were an inspiration to the Russian avant-garde; the ballet impresario Sergei Diaghilev's promotion of Russian art in France in 1906; and Henri Matisse's visit to Russia in 1911., This title explores the connections between French and Russian art from the mid-19th century until the 1920s, a period that witnessed the emergence of some of the most important developments in modern art.

- _***d (6)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.
- l***c (29)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Mese scorsoAcquisto verificatoItem in condition described. The shipment tracking was completely opaque and shipping was slow. The seller used a third-party shipping solution provider that gave a USPS tracking number, but, USPS had no real tracking info. I was not able to see any delivery estimate until the day before it arrived. When the delivery date estimate finally materialized, it was off by two days, saying arrival would be on e.g. the 5th when it actually arrived on the 3rd.
- b***3 (502)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Mese scorsoAcquisto verificatoAs the title mentions awesomebooksusa, most books have been rarely awesome but the book prices have been almost generous, granted. Unbelievable services : 3 day international shipping, prompt dispatch, newly book condition, provided tracking, secure package, exactly received book, and safe deliveries. My gratitude to the seller’s thoughts of the needy buyers sending the wanted books to the new residence. Many thanks! Arabella
