A profound book of great distinction and originality. . . . A brilliant synthesis of the evidence with respect to man's evolutionary direction. . . . Synopsis
"A profound book of great distinction and originality. . . . A brilliant synthesis of the evidence with respect to man's evolutionary direction. . . . I cannot imagine anyone reading this book who will not be profoundly influenced by it, and who will not wish to read it several times over, for it is a great work by a great man--one of the most spiritually erudite of our time." --New York Times Visionary theologian and evolutionary theorist Pierre Teilhard de Chardin's analysis of human evolution Pierre Teilhard De Chardin was one of the most distinguished thinkers and scientists of our time. He applied his whole life, his tremendous intellect, and his great spiritual faith to building a philosophy that would reconcile Christian theology with the scientific theory of evolution, to relate the facts of religious experience to those of natural science. In this timeless book, which contains the quintessence of his thought, Teilhard argues that just as living organisms sprung from inorganic matter and evolved into ever more complex thinking beings, humans are evolving toward an "omega point"--defined by Teilhard as a convergence with the Divine., Pierre Teilhard De Chardin was one of the most distinguished thinkers and scientists of our time. He fits into no familiar category for he was at once a biologist and a paleontologist of world renown, and also a Jesuit priest. He applied his whole life, his tremendous intellect and his great spiritual faith to building a philosophy that would reconcile Christian theology with the scientific theory of evolution, to relate the facts of religious experience to those of natural science. The Phenomenon of Man, the first of his writings to appear in America, Pierre Teilhard's most important book and contains the quintessence of his thought. When published in France it was the best-selling nonfiction book of the year.

- -***m (14)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Mese scorsoAcquisto verificatoThe book was listed as an instructor’s review copy containing the same text as the student version. This item was listed “Like New” and came exactly as advertised. The seller, solr_books, packaged it nicely in a bubble envelope to prevent damage during transport. I was very happy with this purchase. I had paid very close to the same for a used student version that was so marked up and highlighted that I could not use it. Great Seller! I would definitely purchase again through them.
- d***n (996)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoShipped with tracking - excellent! Listing description indicated there was an inspection of this particular copy - also very much appreciated. Only quibble is the un-padded thin-plastic shipping bag (which showed signs of shipping damage - tears and scrapes). But the book itself arrived in perfect condition, WITH the dust jacket. So, all good! Would buy from this seller again. Recommended.
- a***i (62)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Mese scorsoAcquisto verificatoBook exactly as described. This matters to me because I am very sensitive to mold or other contaminants, especially on paper. Clean copy. Clear expectations regarding shipping time. Only less-than-perfect element is book was shipped in a plastic envelope without any stiff cardboard or other protection, causing some corner bending and a little on the cover. Nothing major, and I am very happy with the book. Thanks!
