The Konica Minolta Maxxum 28-135mm f/4-4.5 zoom lens was first produced in the mid-1980s, and it still has a place in the gear bag of the modern photographer. Because of an old rumor that was debunked long ago, this lens is known as “the secret handshake” model. It is no secret that this heavy, durable model with a wide range of focal lengths produces excellent, sharp photos. If you need a lens that functions within the specs of the Maxxum 28-135mm, the original is a great choice.These Minolta AF lenses are made almost entirely of metal and glass, which means they have a solid, quality build. They are 4.3 inches long with a diameter of 2.95 inches. They weigh 26.6 ounces. The satin black finish that is typical of Minolta lenses will make this model look great on your camera. When you need to adjust the zoom, a textured rubber covering on the zoom ring gives you a good grip so that you can make controlled adjustments. These lenses have the “A” mount and are compatible with Minolta Maxxum cameras and Sony Alpha models.The internal components of this Minolta model consist of 16 elements in 13 groups. Full multi-coating on the glass increases the amount of light that is transmitted to the sensor. The coatings also decrease reflection, help combat ghosting and flare, and lend some measure of scratch resistance to the exposed surfaces. When it is not in macro mode, the maximum magnification this lens can achieve is .09x. Its minimum focus distance is a gap of 60 inches. If you flip the macro switch, the maximum magnification increases to .25x. The minimum focusing range is reduced to a more useful macro measure of about 10 inches.This zoom lens is an autofocus model, but you can also focus it manually if you prefer. Autofocus is always disabled when you are in macro lens mode so that you can manually control the finer adjustments you need for a photo at the shorter distance. The casing of this model has focal length marks on it for 28 millimeters, 35 millimeters, 50 millimeters, 70 millimeters, 100 millimeters, and 135 millimeters. There are IR marks for the same measures, which let you adjust the focus appropriately for infrared film. If you are using this lens on an APS-C camera rather than a full frame type, the focal length range equivalent is 42 to 202.5 millimeters.Seven blades define the aperture of this lens. The maximum f-stop value that is available is f/4, and the minimum is f/22-25 or f/27 if you use half-stop steps. With a full frame body, you will get an angle of view that ranges from 75 degrees to 18 degrees. With an APS-C body, those values will be 54 degrees to 12 degrees.
