When a power failure plunges the entire city into anarchy, a young suburban couple - Matt (Kyle MacLachlan) and Annie (Elisabeth Shue) - are drawn into murder and mayhem. After a volatile evening at the movies, the pair arrives home to find a sick daughter, but Matt struggles to get help for his child when a blackout strikes down all communications in the city.
