John Madden and Pat Sumerall are back with this edition in the Madden Football series for the Mac: Madden NFL 2000 for Windows 95. The players have been scaled for height and weight, new moves such as wrap tackles and jukes are available, and the computer's AI has been enhanced.
Pick your teams and head out on the field. All 31 NFL teams are available, along with their real rosters and stadiums. Play in a variety of weather conditions and choose from four skill levels. You can play an exhibition, season or play-off game in either traditional or the more hard-hitting Arcade mode. There's even a chance to play one of ten classic play-off matches from the past, such as the 1981 San Diego Chargers-Miami Dolphins battle, and you can create any scenario in the Situation Creator.
New for the 2000 version is a Franchise Mode, which allows you to coach and general manage a team for 30 seasons. You can trade and draft players, track their career stats and see if you can build a dynasty of your own using your favorite team. Also new to this edition are multiplayer and 2-for-1 trades both during and after the season.
Once out on the field you'll have a variety of weapons at your disposal, from playbooks that mimic each team's actual playcalling to audibles that allow you to change your play on the fly. As you play you can earn points in the Madden Challenge system, which combines trivia questions and points earned for completed tasks. As you progress you are given codes that unlock the mystery features in the game.
Finally, head out on the Internet and visit the EA Sports web site for current rosters, a scouting service that helps you find other players with the same preferences and skill level and national tournaments which weed out the real players from the pretenders.
