Medieval Games sets a virtual renaissance fair on the family TV screen. Gamers can play as one of eight archetypical Dark Age characters, such as a knight, a princess, or a wizard. The game is structured similarly to many other midway-themed party collections, with several simple contests of skill and chance arranged around a main fairgrounds area, but the 30 activities in Medieval Games include such courtly feats as jousting, archery, sword fighting, and catapulting. The play of each mini-game is based on a basic motion made with the Wii Remote controller, designed to simulate the action of the actual Medieval event. In party game mode, competitors move around a game board -- three themed boards are featured -- and take turns at the action challenges they pass on their way. The game's "Tournament" mode organizes a competition for up to four human players, while the "Free Play" mode allows virtual lords and ladies of the land skip straight to their favorite mini-games.
