GREAT movie, but worth the Blu-ray treatment...?
I've been a Dragonball Z fan before it moved to Cartoon Network and got all big and famous stateside, so I would like to think that my opinion would matter a little more than someone who just picked this movie up as an unknown rental or watched it not knowing anything about Dragonball Z. Anyone wanting to buy this movie probably already IS a fan has probably already seen this movie, so this review is geared more towards them than anyone else. Blu-ray players (like the PS3) can make a major difference for some movies, like Iron Man, when compared to their normal DVD brethren. Unfortunately, animated movies usually don't make too great of a transfer to Blu-Ray in my opinion, especially not older-recordings of anime like the DBZ movies. I personally couldn't tell much of a difference between the Blu-ray version of Broly, the 'Digitally Remastered' version I bought last year, or the original generic DVD release I've owned for years. And on top of that, for anyone who watches this movie in its native-tongue Japanese mono, you're not getting any extra power or sound from the audio capabilities of the Blu-ray. So in short, this movie is/was one of the best DBZ movies out there, and if you are a hardcore fan like me, then you may want to pick this up if you can find if for a good price, like I did. Worth a bargain purchase, but NOT worth a retail store's $30 asking price.

Dragon Box, Vol. 2 is a Kamehameha X 10 out of 10
I have watched the entire DragonBall Z series several times across various formats: original Japanese audio VHS tapes, Cartoon Network, professionally released DVD's, Digitally Remastered DVD sets, and even Super Ultra Uncut Remastered Very Special Collector's Only DVD box sets. However, even after watching the series several times over, I STILL found the need to buy the Dragon Box sets. I admit; I couldn't tell a lot of difference between the Dragon Box Vol. 1 and the Digitally Remastered box sets previously released, but they really seemed to step up their game in Vol. 2. I could tell a decent amount of difference in the visual quality, although not as much in the audio department. Either way, if you are a diehard DragonBall fan (and we seem to be few and far between these days) you should definitely buy these sets.

Dragon Ball Manga Set - worth every penny in my opinion
I've considered myself a pretty devote Dragon Ball fan for over a decade now, but it wasn't until recently that I realized that for as many times as I have seen the anime (Dragon Ball/Z/GT), and for as many figures as I have on my shelves, I have NEVER read the manga! After picking up this manga box set, I cannot imagine what took me so long. It is amazing to see the origins of such beloved characters as Goku, Yamcha, Krillin, and even Muten Roshi. The manga delivers a completely different experience from the anime, albeit a shorter ride. The anime seemed to change things up a bit by adding quite a few filler parts, and even a few completely filler episodes. I'm not saying this is a bad thing; it makes for a different experience between reading and watching Dragon Ball. So in my opinion, even if you have seen all of the anime, you should still read the manga, you'll be surprised of the differences (I've kept a list of anime/manga differences, and I've already found over 10..). With Vizbig volumes going for $20 each (so around $100 to collect all of DB), this box set is a perfect collector's item at an amazing price! And on top of that, you can set the Dragon Ball manga set next to your Dragon Ball Z manga set and make a nice little Dragon Ball banner at the bottom. So once again, I highly recommend this box set to fans; even if you've read it before, you should add this box set to your collection.
