I confirm the other reviews . it's a very good and conveniant lens. everyone who needs to come into the wide-angle-zoom-world will be satified. and when needed, it's easy to resell it again and upgrade to the 2.8L

A NEW WORLD OF SHARPNESS
I did buy the lens for curiosity. I was not attracted to 35mm, but to the f 1.4 ... first time in hand , I made some fully open shots. the sharpness is out of any range and thing you can imagine. you can cut out any minimal detail like with a macro lens. the focal lenght is not so wide as expected. you can use the lens with candel light for portrait, reportage and much more. maybe not the best to use to much closed diafragm. it's a bright lens to be used under f 8 for my opinion
