ONKYO TX-SR705 7.1 THX receiver (free London collection available)

Great sound al budget price
I bought this receiver for a friend who needed a complete HT system to listen music too. Tight budget was one of the constraints and yet the ONKYO TS705 offers all of the options you might be looking after. HDMI Inputs and Outputs with on screen display are a plus for less than 100GBP (as I paid) and a huge range of settings including equalization have an extraordinary result. I probably don't fancy too much all the small buttons lined up on the front faceplate (I have a small kid that would go crazy pushing them all) and would have preferred one of the amps that cover them with a flap... But this said Onkyo is still one of the leading brands using high quality components and with several years of experience in this industry. One only down point is that it heats up a bit much when used a while at medium/high volume. Needed to distanciate the Blu-ray player to allow air flow in between..

Small and flimsy!
Much smaller than thought, but most of all plastics are flimsy and of the poorest quality. The main plastic part (base) arrived cracked and many bits crumble in parts as you try to put them together. This toy has depassed by long distance the record of "toys that brake after first use" as it arrived broken and kept breaking even before my son could just see it. A total loss of time and money.
