  It was advertised as new. The battery pack had two corroded contacts. When contacted the seller said it was from when the batteries were tested. I know that when batteries are old they leak and corrode the contacts. The battery pack did not contain batteries at all so at some point the item had batteries that were left in, got old, and leaked.He also said that it was in the original box. It was in the bottom part of an original box but the top was wrapped in saran wrap. I bought this as a gift.
