Years of collecting as a kid and as an adult has instilled a passion for sports cards and coins and their relevance to history. Coinage can be traced back to the earliest use in the kingdom of Lydia (modern day Turkey) in 600 BCE , and the coin used was called the Lydian Lion.
Sports cards also have historical relevance and have a history that dates back to 1865. The Brooklyn Atlantics were dominate in New York baseball, their photograph on a card was handed out to spectators and the visiting team at the Boston Common. The card was called carte de visite (a visiting card) and an example can be found in Library of Congress.
Loving history and math as a child sports cards and coinage brought together both worlds with the stories and the statistics. Now, we get to watch the story unfold.
