  I bid on and purchased a set of four volumes. The seller then delivered one of them and told me, incorrectly, that the listing showed only this one. This was a clear fraud.

  The buyer does not understand Ebay Variations Listings. The purchase clearly was for one book and not for a set. There was no fraud. Return is offered on the listing.
