The HP 72.8 GB hard drive is a business-focused storage solution that utilizes a SCSI interface for increased performance. Since the controller that operates the hard drive isn't part of it, this HP hard drive can operate more quickly, including spinning at 10,000 RPM and reading and writing data to the 3.5-inch hard drive at 320 MBps. Network engineers will appreciate the fact that it is hot-swappable: since these hard drives are often used in rack servers or arrays, the ability to quickly swap out an HP hard drive without shutting down systems is helpful. While the capacity of the HP 72.8 GB hard drive is strong, it also helps that it has a low profile form factor because of limited space on racks. HP argues that its 3.5-inch hard drive is designed within high tolerances, critical to keeping data protected and reducing the risk of hardware failure.
