Sappho is a provocative, passionate and enthralling love story, set on the Greek island of Lesbos in the 1920s. The film centres on a modern day love triangle between a newly-wed American couple, Sappho and Phil, and Helene. As the three form a complex and scandalous mnage a trois, Sappho comes to believe that she is the reincarnation of the original Sappho, unaware of the passionate death of the ancient poetess. Sappho trumped the all-time box-office record for a locally-produced movie in Ukraine on its premiere release, and stars a trio of talented young actors, as well as Ukrainian star Bogdan Stupka.
