While this third-person action-adventure might be pitched as "Grand Theft Auto III meets Archie Bunker," the dirty deeds and underhanded mob schemes are far from "all in the family" -- there's more than enough bad behavior to go around, on both sides of the thin blue line. Based on the Spanish film Torrente: El Brazo Tonto de la Ley (or "Torrente: The Idiot Arm of the Law"), the game's lead character is José Luis Torrente, a disaffected ex-cop who is trying to make his living as a private detective.<br><br>Not the model modern law enforcement officer by any means, Torrente is a fascist, misogynistic drunk who was removed from his position with the police department involuntarily, after his unscrupulous involvement with a particularly sordid crime came to light. Now he's on the lookout to break that one big case that will restore his moral credibility and help him get back on the force.<br><br>Dark humor punctuates the adventure, which follows the dumpy, balding, out-of-shape Torrente through more than 60 levels, from Madrid to Marbella, as he seeks to expose a Mafia-style drug war without getting caught in the crossfire. Each mission can be solved in multiple ways, and the game can be played at a number of different difficulty levels. Originally developed by Spain's Virtual Toys, the North American edition of Torrente is one of the first mature-oriented releases from O~3 Entertainment.
