Gamers battle blue-blooded demons through an imaginary island kingdom and try to return the night to humans in Nights of Azure. The action is set in the kingdom of Ruswal, where demons roam the land after dark, and the knight Arnice and her priestess friend Lilysse attempt to rid the land of monsters. Players must defeat fiends in real-time battles in order to gather information and further the story, and they can enlist the help of demons known as Servans to accomplish their goals, with the Servans growing stronger and gaining abilities the more they are used.<br><br>Arnice can chain together her light, heavy, and special attacks to fill a transformation gauge, at which point she can undergo five different powerful transformations. Her demon form lets her manipulate fire, while her rabbit form gives her tremendous speed, her phantom form lets her attack from range, her armor form gives her a solid balance of offense and defense, and her nightmare form gives her devastating power. Gamers can head back to the Ende Hotel to help Arnice grow, perform various tasks, switch Servans, and prepare for upcoming battles, or they can go to the hotel's basement to sharpen their combat skills in the Arena.
