Titus' second racing title for the Nintendo 64 is an arcade-style game that features over 30 different convertibles and ten tracks covering such locales as deserts, cities, oilfields, snow-covered mountains and canyons. In order to see all the game has to offer, however, players must embark on a circuit as one of eight different characters: Ricky, Angelica, Alex, Mei-Ling, Mr. Slim, Linda, Billy and Reyna. After selecting a suitable alter ego and renaming him or her to your liking, you'll be ready to join the circuit. The Roadster Trophy, the heart of the game, is a championship consisting of three leagues separated by categories: Category C (cars with less than 250 horsepower), Category B (cars ranging from 250 to 350 horsepower) and Category A (cars over 350 horsepower). Each new category becomes unlocked as you advance through the previous one by finishing first and earning heaps of cash. This cash will allow you to enter the next category of competition, purchase new cars and upgrade your existing vehicle in six areas: engines, tires, turbo, exhaust, gear box and suspension. If you find yourself a bit short on cash to purchase the ride of your dreams, you can sell your current vehicle to make up the difference -- just make sure you have enough money, because you cannot reverse the action once it has been done! Progress, upgrades and cars earned during the Roadster Trophy can be saved to a Controller Pak for later use. Those players who would rather jump right in the game without having to go through multiple races can do so with the Quick Race play mode, allowing them to cut to the chase and start a single race on their choice of tracks. The final two modes, Time Trial and Multi-player, let players work on their best times and compete with up to three other friends in a championship (respectively). Other notable features include changing weather conditions, Expansion Pak support for high-resolution graphics and Rumble Pak support for vibration feedback.
