Morgan Dollars were produced between 1878 and 1921, with 8,725,000 created in that time. Both the obverse and reverse sides of these coins were designed by George T. Morgan. The 1883-O $1 Morgan silver dollar has a 0.9000 fineness and weighs in at 26.73 grams. It is 31.1 millimeters across and has reeded edges. The obverse features a profile portrait of Liberty, with 'E. Pluribus Unum written along the top and the date of minting along the bottom. The reverse has an image of an eagle in mid fight with wings outstretched, and 'The United States of America' written along the top and 'one dollar' along the bottom. The coin was minted in New Orleans.
