A remake of a 2009 Wii title, Muramasa Rebirth slices its way onto Vita as gamers take control of a possessed princess named Momohime, or the fugitive ninja Kisuke, and go on a quest to find 108 cursed swords and defeat the demonic minions of an evil shogun. The action is fast-paced and highly stylized, with players engaging in furious swordplay, but they must also keep a watchful eye on their weapons, because blades can break, and they take a long time to heal. Gamers can carry three different katana with them, and switch to fresh swords on the fly during epic boss battles.<br><br>The game offers respites from the action in the form of sword forging, conversations with villagers, health-restoring trips to the hot springs, and a cooking mini-game. Characters grow stronger as they progress through the story, and Muramasa offers three different difficulty levels to provide a challenge for gamers of all skill levels. Vita users have the option of downloading four additional characters and scenarios, each offering a new storyline and new enemies, and an extra mode of play that focuses more on the use of special abilities than on hacking and slashing.
