My modern motherboard senses it and eventually finds the exact driver for it. BUT, when I connect an IDE cable (with CDROM drive on the other end) my computer won't boot. I don't blame this new PCI card for this problem, but I do want to solve it somehow.

The unit had expected wear and tear issue. The combo DVD/VCR player/recorder performed as expected except for one thing. A quick call to customer service resolved the issue very quickly (incompatibility of contemporary DVD-RWs with legacy machines). The tech was very helpful. I feel assured that any future warranty issue if any will be handled very well. I highly recommend this seller.
