This is a monthly magazine, here bound in half leather over cloth boards. All edges gilt. Though the initial title page reads New Series, Vol II, 1868, the book in fact contains both Vol I and Vol II, 1867 and 1868, bound as one. The condition is good, with a rather worn binding, owner inscriptions on the endpapers, some damage to the endpapers, a couple of instances of crayon scribble at the very front of the book and a few spots here and there throughout. One leaf pp173-4 has been partly torn out, possibly because it belongs to an account of 'the Swearing Parrot' - the parrot may have offended the reader. The book is mainly clean and is tight in its binding. The contents consist of articles advising on how to be a good servant ), informative articles, poetry, and fiction, including 'The History Of Susan Gray' by Mrs Sherwood. Illustrated with engravings throughout. Rare. 17.5cm, 7 inches, tall, variously paginated.”
