Uptown soul from a regular visitor to the R&B charts (and an occasional one to the pop listings) in the early '60s with such early pop/soul concoctions as 'I Don't Want to Cry', 'Any Day Now', and 'Tell Him I'm Not Home'. Two out-of-print albums on one CD feature New York pop/soul production, with cheeky brass, sweeping strings, and female backup vocalists. Chuck Jackson's singles were outstanding, but he was even more electrifying live. This set features his exciting, robust vocals done before adoring, encouraging audiences whose cries and responses pushed him to even more spectacular performances. Kent Soul. 2005.
