They're super stiff, but, that probably means they'll last a while. The dye has stopped running after a couple washes. Overall, good for the price. The hat is new, but I was a little disappointed in the packaging - a plastic shipping bag. I would have assumed that it would be boxed to avoid damage, and the hat was not in the best condition - mis-shaped in several ways/places. Luckily, it's straw, and I've owned many hats, over many years, so I've been able to reshape it, acceptably.
