Reviews
"Bill Miller and Janet C'de Baca have written a wonderful book. Not since William James'sVarieties of Religious Experiencehas there been such a psychologically penetrating book on spiritual experience." --George E. Vaillant, MD, Harvard Medical School "Although many people spend years struggling to fix personal problems, some people undergo sudden, dramatic, and nearly instantaneous change. This book tells their stories and identifies the core features of these transformational changes. The idea of quantum change is arguably among the most exciting in psychology, since it challenges both common sense and clinical lore. This book will appeal to anyone interested in psychological change, transformation, or the human condition. In other words, this book is for everyone." --Todd F. Heatherton, PhD, Associate Professor, Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, Dartmouth College "ReadingQuantum Changeis a mystical experience of its own. This is an exceptionally well written book that I found inspirational, enlightening, and a 'must read.' After reading this book, don't be surprised if you think about change in a new way." --Monty Roberts, author of the New York Times best seller,The Man Who Listens to Horses, "Quantum Changeis arguably the most informative scientific appraisal of spiritual experience sinceVarieties of Religious Experienceby William James....Their book reminds us that such experiences are common and that it behooves both behavioral scientists and clergy to seek the common, healing ground that unites their two disciplines."--American Journal of Psychiatry "LikeVarieties of Religious Experience, Quantum Changeis illustrated richly with case histories....This book is compelling reading and is a must not only for anyone working in the addictions field, but for anyone who is at all interested in the psychology and spirituality of human behaviour."--Addiction Biology "It is easy to walk away from this book hungry for an equally transforming jolt to everyday existence."--ForeWord "The authors successfully assert that as a person is guided to a new place of authentic truth within himself or herself, peacefulness and inner strength ensue, and a positive shift in core values results....this work is valuable because it teaches ordinary people not to fear sudden spiritual encounters. For large psychology collections in public libraries."--Library Journal, "Bill Miller and Janet C'de Baca have written a wonderful book. Synopsis
Most of us walk through each day expecting few surprises. If we want to better ourselves or our lives, we map out a path of gradual change, perhaps in counseling or psychotherapy. Psychologists William Miller and Janet C'de Baca were longtime scholars and teachers of traditional approaches to self-improvement when they became intrigued by a different sort of change that was sometimes experienced by people they encountered--something often described as "a bolt from the blue" or "seeing the light." And when they placed a request in a local newspaper for people's stories of unexpected personal transformation, the deluge of responses was astounding. These compelling stories of epiphanies and sudden insights inspired Miller and C'de Baca to examine the experience of "quantum change" through the lens of scientific psychology. Where does quantum change come from? Why do some of us experience it, and what kind of people do we become as a result? The answers that this book arrives at yield remarkable insights into how human beings achieve lasting change--sometimes even in spite of ourselves., Most of us walk through each day expecting few surprises. - v***4 (113)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoPurchased 5 car Madison rail car set at auction. Received package well wrapped and in original box. Cars themselves are in excellent condition and mostly as described, although I believe they have seen some track time. That being said, seller offers returns so I'm confident seller was told these cars were new by whomever he got them from. The purchase price was excellent so when averaged with a higher than normal shipping fee it turned out to be an overall good deal.
- D***-- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoI have ordered a couple of magazines from this company and I absolutely would buy from them again. Having said that, the shipping company (DHL) TOOK 2 MONTHS + to get it to me. This delay in no way reflects the company from who it was purchased. Great price, excellent packaging and prompt communication.(D) #27D - RARE 1966 DRAG CARTOONS MAGAZINE BATMAN & ROBIN COVER PETE MILLARS (N° 387611465652)
- r***9 (841)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoAwesome price on this vintage Italeri kit. Seller shipped it quickly at an average cost. The kit arrived safely, very carefully packaged in brand new materials. It was delivered just as it appeared in listing and photos. It was listed as used but really new in an open box complete with the decals and instructions. The kit also included extras, an Edward Models PE detail set and Check Master's engine kit. I'm extremely pleased with my purchase and I highly recommend the seller. Thanks!
