A niche accessory that spawned several famous sagas
Back in 1986, Nintendo was searching for a cheap alternative for cartridges, and they ended up commissioning Mitsumi a floppy-like device, giving birth to the one of the least known accessories of all times (at least outside Japan), the Famicom Disk System. Some well known sagas like Zelda and Metroid had origin as FDS games, and some other titles never reached Europe and the Americas (like the marvellous Ai Senshi Nicol), or arrived only many years later in a modified version (like the original Super Mario Bros. 2, here know as Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels).
