The murder at the center of this documentary was an incident of great importance to the birth of the American civil rights movement, a precursor to even the Montgomery Bus Boycott. This American Experience production documents the death of Emmett Till, a 14-year-old black boy who was murdered for whistling at a white woman in Money, Mississippi. The film follows the trial through the Jim Crow South as the killers are acquitted by an jury entirely composed of white males. The murderers would tell the full story including a detailed description of the murder shortly after their acquittal.
