The red dot is too bight for faint objects and the lens attenuates the star light as well. It works great for planets. At the end of the day you get what you payed for.

In fact, this RDF requires a CR1632, or two stacked CR1616 batteries. This is a high quality RDF without the loose and shaky parts found in many others within this price range. The red dot is well defined and the adjustments are smoothe. The only issue is that at its lowest dimmed setting it is still quite bright. Fast shipping.
