Reviews
Horowitz's trademark is a kind of gorgeous competence; a reader always feels utterly secure in the credibility of his narratives, however outlandish they get. Here, again, he handles a complicated plot with aplomb (and blessedly few explosions). Does he find a human being inside James Bond? He tries, and Sixtine is one of the best Bond girls ever written., This explosive adventure is Horowitz's second Bond book, after Trigger Mortis (2015), and marks him as fully worthy to carry on the Bond tradition. Fleming would be pleased. Whether he is writing for adults or children, whether he is imagining his own characters or extending the lives of those created by others (Agatha Christie and Arthur Conan Doyle as well as Fleming), Horowitz always draws a crowd of eager readers., "A fine storyteller, Horowitz employs all the tropes fans know and love (including an elegant explanation for the famous martini mandate, "shaken, not stirred"), but he also delivers a conclusion whose moral complexity will surprise anyone expecting an ending more in line with Fleming's own.", "A fine storyteller, Horowitz employs all the tropes fans know and love (including an elegant explanation for the famous martini mandate, "shaken, not stirred"), but he also delivers a conclusion whose moral complexity will surprise anyone expecting an ending more in line with Fleming's own." -- Publishers Weekly The versatile Horowitz has written authorized books about Sherlock Holmes and others, and here spins a fragment of Fleming's writing into a splendid prequel to the Bond canon. -- Seattle Times Horowitz's trademark is a kind of gorgeous competence; a reader always feels utterly secure in the credibility of his narratives, however outlandish they get. The explosive prequel to Casino Royale , from bestselling author Anthony Horowitz, Forever and a Day is the story of the birth of a legend in the brutal underworld of the French Riviera that takes the reader to the very beginning of James Bond's illustrious career and the formation of his identity. M laid down his pipe and stared at it tetchily. "We have no choice. We're just going to bring forward this other chap you've been preparing. But you didn't tell me his name." "It's Bond, sir," the Chief of Staff replied. "James Bond." The sea keeps its secrets. But not this time. One body. Three bullets. 007 floats in the waters of Marseille, killed by an unknown hand. It's time for a new agent to step up. Time for a new weapon in the war against organized crime. It's time for James Bond to earn his license to kill., A spy is dead. A legend is born. - e***- (122)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Mese scorsoAcquisto verificatoUnfortunately I received a damaged book, the item and the package both were damaged and it was clearly evident its appearance that it happened during transit. The seller was very understanding and gave me a full refund for the damaged book, though it was no fault of their own. Other than the damage, the book was as described, the quality and condition aside from the damaged spot was like new. The cost of the book was reasonable. I would definitely purchase from the seller again.
- v***v (2102)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoAlthough this book was not as described, with no picture of it in the listing, the seller communicated well and quickly gave me a full refund while letting me keep it. The minimal packaging left the book a bit vulnerable (typical for ThriftBooks), but it did arrive safely and timely. As usual, it’s hit or miss with this seller, but often times you can get great values, and their customer service is always very good. Many other sellers with millions of transactions don’t even communicate. How to chalk talk, by Harlan Tarbell (N° 197064259889)
