Replacing the cable may be your only option. This 9FT replacement works well. However, the wire coloring does not match the wire coloring on the original so I highly recommend getting a multimeter to test continuity, like I did, to be sure which colored wire goes where before starting the repair. My 5200 joystick now works like new thanks to this replacement.
