In this gentle comedy, veteran actors David Carradine, Rip Torn, and Bruce Dern star as a trio of retired sea captains and confirmed bachelors in turn-of-the-20th-century Cape Cod. Housework is piling up at the home they share, and the men concoct a plan: send for a mail-order bride to do their cooking and cleaning. Jerry (Torn) loses a coin toss, and he dreads being the groom-to-be. But when the beautiful Martha Snow (Mariel Hemingway) arrives, one of his roommates may be tempted to renounce his single status in the name of love.
