Jervis, National Science Teachers Association, Bibel takes the reader, chattily and with skill, through his analysis of a series of fatal accidents., Offering insights into how aviation accident investigations are conducted, Bibel addresses the causes of such accidents, from in-flight breakup to metal fatigue and combustion, and the lessons learned. Synopsis
The black box is actually orange - and there are two of them. They house the cockpit voice recorder and the flight data recorder. But crash investigators cannot rely on the black boxes alone. This fascinating book shows how crash investigators, scientists, and engineers use physics and engineering to determine the probable cause of airplane accidents and how resulting safety recommendations are incorporated to make flying safer. Beginning with the 1931 Fokker F-10A crash that killed legendary football coach Knute Rockne, professor George Bibel examines a number of crash investigations through the lens of physical science. He shows how investigators analyze factors like impact, wreckage, loading, fire patterns, metallurgy, fracture, crash testing, and human tolerances to determine how planes crash - and how this forensic investigation is incorporated in aircraft design and operation to keep commercial aviation as safe as possible., The black box is orange--and there are actually two of them. They house the cockpit voice recorder and the flight data recorder, instruments vital to airplane crash analyses. But accident investigators cannot rely on the black boxes alone. Professor George Bibel shows how forensic experts, scientists, and engineers analyze factors like impact, debris, loading, fire patterns, metallurgy, fracture, crash testing, and human tolerances to determine why planes fall from the sky--and how the information gleaned from accident reconstruction is incorporated into aircraft design and operation to keep commercial aviation as safe as possible., The black box is actually orange - and there are two of them. The item came as described was packaged pretty good book was in good shape, just as the description described. I tried to contact seller twice and never got a response other then that the transaction went pretty good if seller tried harder to answer questions i would have given a 5 star review but because i had trouble getting in contact with him, and still haven’t heard from them and book is already delivered ill leave a 4 star review i would recommend this seller

Due to unfortunate circumstances it looks like the postal service lost the original item. Seller was very prompt with communication in locating another copy and shipped it out ASAP. Fantastic customer service, communication, packaging, etc. 11/10, would buy again

The item did not arrive at all (it was sent untracked from the US to the UK), but the seller issued a refund when I requested one, so although I didn't get the item, my interaction with this seller was positive and would be happy to buy from them again.
