Camryn Manheim Emmy® Award-winning actor on The Practice In my unlikely-heroes hall of fame, Jeanne Boylan gets a star position. Always last to be called and usually the one asked to undo the damages, she's been the miracle worker in nearly every major national crime in recent American history. Portraits of Guilt is sure to stir up trouble, but that's never stopped her yet. She defies traditions and gets results, and she's my kind of role model., Linda Fairstein national bestselling author of Cold Hit With the eye of an artist and the mind of a sleuth, Jeanne Boylan puts her unique creative genius to work, helping police and prosecutors all over the country solve the deadliest crimes. Portraits of Guilt, like Boylan's life, astounds and inspires., The Free Lance-Star (Fredricksburg, VA) Criminal-profiler Jeanne Boylan has sketched another perfect portrait. However, this one isn't her usual drawing of some fugitive from justice -- it's her revealing book about her life and work., Midwest Book Review Excellent....Her story is simply fascinating and this account provides high drama [and] insight....Ms. Boylan is a hero., John Walsh host of America's Most Wanted A deeply personal, riveting, and revealing behind-the-scenes look into...the hunt for justice., Ann Rule New Tork Times bestselling author of Empty Promises Jeanne Boylan's connection to people in distress is almost psychic. She is a lone woman in a mostly male world, an artist with terrifying subjects, an instincitve psychologist who elicits chilling accurate memories from victims and witnesses who have looked death in the face. Portraits of Guilt is remarkable and a must for true-crime readers., John Walsh host of America's Most Wanted and New York Times bestselling author of Tears of Rage and No Mercy No one -- absolutely no one -- can mine a victim's or an eyewitness's memory with the empathy, compassion, understanding, and eerily accurate success of Jeanne Boylan., The Associated Press A gripping, firsthand look at the untold stories behind the stories....[Boylan] depicts a world where being a woman is a fight in itself.
Synopsis
Inside the investigations of the deadly crimes that have shocked our nation -- the Polly Klaas kidnapping, Susan Smith's drownings of her own children, the Oklahoma City bombing -- one woman is the investigative world's secret weapon. You've seen her work: it was her composite sketch that revealed the face of the Unabomber, her hand that put a profile on Oklahoma City's John Doe II, her "dead ringers" that led to resolutions of those and other cases. Now Jeanne Boylan, the gifted forensic artist, whose beauty and compassion make her one of the most fascinating crusaders in the war against crime, tells her own riveting and deeply personal story. In thousands of national cases, Jeanne Boylan has pieced together portraits of crime suspects from the pained and fragmented descriptions drawn out from crime victims and eyewitnesses; time after time, her uncannily accurate renderings have helped close the most baffling of cases. She has worked with investigators worldwide and the nation's top FBI task force commanders, but Boylan herself connects with victims and grieving families in a way law enforcement officers cannot: over weeks and months she immerses herself in their lives, shares their frustrations and hopes; from this bond of trust, lost memories inevitably resurface. Through her sketches, Boylan is able to arm police with telling details of a fugitive's face, as well as aspects of the case often overlooked during conventional investigations. It is that combination of empathy and artistry that has placed her squarely outside the box -- and inside the most shattering cases of our time. But her compassion -- and her compulsion for justice -- have come at a price. Jeanne Boylan knows about loss and heartache: with searing honesty she portrays the effects on her marriage and her personal life of this career that calls her, at all hours, to step behind the scenes, to join the highest-profile manhunts, to find the faces of the most violent criminals, and at the same time, to help pick up the pieces of lives devastated by shocking violence. And, in a moving disclosure, Jeanne Boylan reveals that she, too, knows firsthand the price of crime. For the first time, in Portraits of Guilt, the woman who has formed the faces of the nation's most wanted killers uses her talents to bring about the resolution of a surprisingly personal twenty-year-old case. This remarkable memoir includes Boylan's own never-before-published drawings of two attackers who remain at large.

The listing was for a hardcover version of this book; however, I received a paperback. The Seller replied quickly to my question about this issue and issued a full refund - and let me keep the book. So, a diligent Seller for sure - and well packaged and reasonable timing on shipping. Thank you for the refund, and as you suggested, I'll likely donate this volume and seek the hardcover.

Great transaction, exactly as described, packed well, and promptly shipped on August 6th. Unfortunately the U.S. Postal Service took 23 calendar days to deliver the book. It was shipped from Pennsylvania, to Atlanta, past Alabama to Texas, enjoyed several days in Texas, then to Minneapolis, Jacksonville, Florida, back to Atlanta, finally to Birmingham, and Huntsville. The seller was very responsive and I decided it was interesting to see if/how the book would arrive. Thanks, Joe

Excellent purchase. Was able to get all three items from the one seller. Seller was able to bundle all three items together into one package. Items as described and arrived in perfect condition. Good communication around shipping and tracking as items delayed and not able to be delivered by original estimate. Thanks to shipping updates I was able to track the items arriving before the extended delivery time. Thank you for making these items available on EBay.
